I keep my tools in a large Knaack KN-91 job box at work. ![]() I was thinking of have the top drawer 1/2" deep (for rules, spring calipers, gages, scribes, etc), the middle 1" deep (for micrometers) and the last 2" deep (for all my dials, 5 calipers, parallels, v-blocks, 123, squares, etc etc etc) and all the other standard nic-nacs (nice brass handles, corner protectors, some simple inlay work, etc) ![]() The riser i have in mind will just be three drawers (running the full length of my 41" tool cabinet) with the standard slide-and-hide style cover with lock. I was thinking Oak, constructed finger joints (i have alot more skill with a dado blade vs a router, for the time being) and roller bearings. ![]() So, if anyone else has made their own, and has some advice sugguestions on materials and sizes or pics to post, that would be great.Īs for mine, I couldn't figure out how to mine setup, so i took some temporary easy way out, and i'll start the project by just making a riser for now, and make a tool chest to go on top of it later When i first went to school, one of my instructors told me (and later took some pictures of) a nice oak tool chest he had his father make for him.Īnd my 41" tool cabinet is slowly running out of space and i think its time i made my own
